As a by-product of my Key Blocks, I have also created a Hide-A-Key style magnetic key holder that lets you magnetically attach a single key to anything magnetic. This will most likely be used for hiding a key but it can also be used for convenience if you need a single key stored somewhere (and there is a metal object available to attach it to).

The design uses the same floating ribs of the Key Blocks which grip any key inserted securely and without any rattling. I have included versions designed for 10x3mm and 12x3mm Neodymium magnets. The press fit holes for the magnets are actually only 2.8mm deep as most of the 3mm magnets on the market seem to actually measure about 2.7mm thick.

Depending on your print setup the magnets may or may not fit tightly. If they are not tight, add a drop of glue to ensure they will stay in place.

Printing

I have tried to make my main print settings visible on the Cura screenshot but in case they are difficult to read I have summarized them again here…

Material: I have tested this design in PETG and PLA but I prefer PETG for durability and flexibility.

My Setup:
Nozzle = 0.4mm

My Settings:
Layer height = 0.2mm
Line width = 0.4mm
Wall count = 4 (1.6mm)
Infill = 40%
Ironing = OFF

Support:
Designed to print without support.

Print Orientation: As shown in the screenshot(s).

Assembly Notes

No assembly or post-print processing is required other than pressing 2 magnets into the model. Use a drop of glue if the magnets are not tight.
