A few weeks ago I headed out for a walk with Bob and Heidi on a warm day. Left my jacket at home. No bags. You know the moment — the dog squats and you’re standing there with nothing. That was the day I decided I really needed to design the CollarPod.

Overview

CollarPod is a compact, single-piece flexible bag holder that clips directly onto your dog’s collar so a bag is always there when you need it — even on those walks where you forgot your jacket, your bags, or just your brain. Printed in TPU, it flexes to clip on without any tools and stays put all day.

What It Is & How It Works

Flex the back of the pod over the collar edge — TPU flexibility makes installation easy without removing the collar.

Fold a standard poop bag tightly — lengthwise four times, then once across. Keep air out for the most compact fold.

Close the lid and press until the side tabs click. CollarPod is designed to be firm enough to open that it won’t accidentally pop open on the walk.

Check the viewing window before each walk — bag visible means you’re ready to go.

Key Parts & Mechanisms

Collar clip — flexible TPU grip that flexes onto the collar without tools and holds firm during use

Lid with side-tab latches — snaps closed securely; firm enough that it won’t pop open accidentally

Viewing window — confirms a bag is loaded at a glance, no need to open the lid before each walk

Single-piece design — no assembly, no loose parts, nothing to misplace

Printing Notes & Recommended Settings

Material: TPU 95A or similar — Bambu TPU for AMS works well

Nozzle: 0.4 mm

Layer Height: 0.2 mm

Walls: 4 (1.6 mm)

Infill: 40% Cubic

Support: None required

Print on a single direct-feed spool for best TPU results

Post-Print Setup

No major post-print work needed. Once off the bed:

Open and close the lid a few times to seat the latches — TPU may be slightly stiff fresh off the printer.

Flex the collar clip open and snap it onto your dog’s collar. It seats firmly without removing the collar.

Load a folded poop bag, close the lid, and you’re done.

Available Sizes

CollarPod is available in three sizes to fit common collar widths, plus a BeltPod variant for humans:

CollarPod 17 — fits 5/8″ (17 mm) collars → Download on Thangs

CollarPod 26 — fits 1″ (26 mm) collars → Download on Thangs

CollarPod 40 — fits 1.5″ (40 mm) collars → Download on Thangs

BeltPod 40 — clips to your belt (up to 1.5″ wide) → Download on Thangs

Measure your collar or belt before printing. If you’re between sizes, go with the larger variant.

Why This Design Exists

Designed and field-tested in Vancouver, BC — with Bob and Heidi. Because a bag on the dog is always better than a bag you forgot at home.

Overview

A better scraper for 3D printing beds — no screws, no stripped holes, no fuss. The Logical Scraper series solves the two biggest problems with printed scraper handles: stripped fastener holes and multi-piece assembly. Both models use a tool-free design and accept standard 32 mm × 23 mm scraper blades.

What It Is & How It Works

Model A — 2 Piece, Adjustable Angle

The engineer’s scraper. Model A is a two-piece snap-together design with five interchangeable blade holders at angles of 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 degrees. The handle and blade holder click together using printed hooks and a positive index feature that confirms the holder is fully seated before use.

2 pieces — handle + interchangeable blade holder

5 blade angle options: 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 degrees

No screws — snap-together only

Blade holders swap without tools

Positive index confirms full seating

Model B — 1 Piece, No Assembly

The minimalist’s answer. One piece. Print it. Install the blade. Done. After designing Model A, I challenged myself to eliminate assembly entirely — no hooks, no indexing, no sliding parts. The blade wedges directly into the handle, and an inspection window lets you confirm full seating before you put it to work. Selectable blade angles are four separate variants: 13, 14, 15, and 16 degrees, with the angle embossed on the handle so you always know which one you’re holding.

1 piece — handle and blade holder are a single printed part

4 blade angle options: 13, 14, 15, 16 degrees

No screws — blade installs directly into the printed slot

Inspection window confirms blade is fully seated

Angle embossed on handle — always know which variant you’re holding

Key Parts & Mechanisms

Blade slot — precision-fit channel sized for standard 32 mm × 23 mm scraper blades

Snap hooks (Model A) — printed hook-and-index system; positive click confirms full seating

Inspection window (Model B) — confirms blade is fully inserted before use

Embossed angle label (Model B) — angle is cast into the handle so you never guess which variant you’re holding

No screws — no stripped holes, ever

Which Angle Should I Print?

I’ve tried them all and find 15 degrees to be the sweet spot for most print removal tasks — but your preference may vary depending on your bed surface and material. Start with 15° and experiment from there.

Printing Notes & Recommended Settings

Material: PETG recommended; PLA also works

Nozzle: 0.4 mm

Layer Height: 0.2 mm

Walls: 4 (1.6 mm)

Infill: 40%

Support: None required

Print Orientation: As per the included 3MF/STL files

Post-Print Setup — Blade Installation

The scraper blade is extremely sharp and capable of causing serious injury. Handle the blade with pliers only — never bare hands.

For Model A: snap the blade holder into the handle until you feel the index click, then use pliers to press the blade firmly into the holder slot until it seats fully.

For Model B: use pliers to press the blade into the slot from the open end. Check through the inspection window to confirm the blade tip is fully seated before use.

The Logical DeskBox was designed to bring intentional organization to everyday desk essentials while keeping everything easy to access, compact, and portable.

What It Is

DeskBox is a 100% 3D-printed, snap-together desk organizer featuring a cantilevered upper tray and a spacious main compartment below.

When the lid is opened, the tray lifts automatically, giving clear access to both storage levels. Frequently used items stay visible and within reach in the upper tray, while bulkier or less frequently accessed items are neatly stored below.

Everything is contained in a single, compact unit that can be easily picked up and moved when needed.

Why the Cantilevered Tray Matters

Traditional desk boxes often turn into deep bins where small items disappear into the bottom. DeskBox solves this by separating storage into two functional layers:

Upper tray for daily essentials like pens, earbuds, and small accessories

Lower compartment for larger or less frequently used items

As the lid opens, the tray lifts automatically — no digging, no stacking, and no lost items.

Designed to Work Alone or as a System

DeskBox can be used completely on its own as a compact desk organizer, but it was also designed to pair perfectly with the Logical CableNest.

When stacked on a matching-width CableNest:

DeskBox organizes everyday desk items

CableNest contains power adapters and cable clutter

Together, they form a clean, portable desk system — ideal for shared workspaces, home offices, and flexible setups where everything needs to be easy to move and quick to tidy.

Each component also works independently, so the system can be built up over time.

Modular Sizing

DeskBox is available in multiple widths, all sharing the same height and depth. The different sizes allow you to scale storage based on your workspace and the amount of desk essentials you keep close at hand.

Smaller sizes work well for compact setups or minimalist desks, while larger versions provide generous storage for multi-device or maker-style workspaces.

Each DeskBox width has a corresponding CableNest designed to match it for clean stacking.

Assembly & Printing

DeskBox is designed with the same principles used across LogicalPlanet projects:

100% 3D printable

Snap-together design

No hardware required

Designed to be disassembled if needed

Assembly is identical across all sizes

Clear diagrams are included to guide assembly, disassembly, and everyday use.

Why DeskBox Exists

DeskBox was created to solve a simple but persistent problem:
the small things on a desk rarely have a proper home.

By giving everyday essentials a compact, accessible, and intentional storage space, DeskBox helps keep workspaces calm, functional, and easy to reset — whether you work at a dedicated desk or a shared surface like a family table.

Messy power adapters and cable sprawl are one of the fastest ways to make a workspace feel chaotic—especially when that workspace isn’t permanent. The Logical CableNest was designed to solve exactly that problem.

CableNest is a ventilated cable management box that contains power adapters and cables while keeping them organized, cool, and easy to move. It’s designed to sit neatly behind a computer or notebook screen, but it works just as well anywhere you need to tame cable clutter.

What It Is

CableNest is a 100% 3D-printed, snap-together containment box for power bricks, chargers, and excess cable length. Open hex-pattern walls allow heat to escape while keeping everything visually contained and out of the way.

All CableNest models share the same height and depth, with multiple widths available to suit different setups—from compact laptop workspaces to multi-monitor desks.

How It Works

Power adapters load through the hinged split top, cables are routed out either end, and the ventilated walls allow heat to escape during use.
Once closed, CableNest keeps cables organized, concealed, and accessible when needed.

Because everything is contained in a single unit, the entire setup can be picked up and moved—ideal for shared tables, hot-desking, or temporary workspaces.

In Use

Placed behind a monitor or notebook, CableNest largely disappears from view while still keeping power accessible. Opening the top provides immediate access to adapters and cables without unplugging anything.

CableNest is equally at home in:

Shared family workspaces

Home offices

Maker desks

Temporary or mobile setups

Why CableNest Exists

CableNest was designed around a simple idea:
power management shouldn’t force you into a permanent desk.

I use utility knives all the time in the shop — opening boxes, trimming prints, cutting filament, breaking down packaging — and I wanted something that felt solid, safe, and predictable, without relying on tiny springs, metal hardware, or complicated internals.

That’s what led to SLUK: a fully 3D-printed, self-locking utility knife designed around simplicity, reliability, and everyday use.

What Makes SLUK Different

The defining feature of SLUK is right in the name: self-locking.

Instead of a traditional spring-loaded slider or button lock, SLUK uses geometry and friction to lock the blade carrier in position automatically. Once extended, it stays put. When retracted, it stays put. No extra parts, no tiny mechanisms, and nothing to wear out quickly.

It’s a very “3D-printing-native” solution — using shape, tolerance, and material behavior instead of hardware.

Designed for Standard Utility Blades

SLUK is designed around standard utility blades, which are inexpensive, widely available, and easy to replace. The blade is fully enclosed when retracted, and the body provides a comfortable grip without being bulky.

The goal wasn’t to reinvent the utility knife — just to make a clean, functional version that prints well and works reliably.

This design is intentionally straightforward to print and assemble.

Fully 3D printed

No supports

No metal hardware

Simple press-fit assembly

PLA works well, and PETG or ASA are also good options if you want a bit more durability. As with most functional parts, decent wall thickness matters more than extreme infill.

The tolerances are forgiving, but like most sliding parts, good extrusion consistency helps.

Why I Made This

There are lots of utility knives out there — cheap ones, fancy ones, disposable ones. What I wanted was a printable tool that earns a permanent place in the shop, one that’s easy to understand, easy to maintain, and safe to toss in a drawer or toolbox.

SLUK is the result of that thinking: simple, solid, and designed to work the way you expect it to.

Give It a Try

If you print one and put it to use, I’d love to hear how it holds up for you. Feedback, tweaks, and edge cases are always welcome — that’s how these designs get better over time.

This is one of those designs that only exists because something quietly changed in the real world.

Over the last few years, toilet paper manufacturers have been steadily shrinking the inner cardboard core. That doesn’t sound like a big deal… until you realize that a lot of holders (especially simple or minimalist ones) rely on a fairly consistent core size to work properly.

Click here to download STL (Affiliate Link)

My original tank-mounted toilet paper holder worked great for years. Then suddenly rolls started falling off, rattling around, or just not fitting the way they used to. That’s what led to this second-generation redesign.

What Changed in Gen 2

The biggest difference in this version is the post itself.

Instead of relying on a rigid diameter that assumes all TP cores are the same, the Gen 2 design uses a compliant, flexible post that adapts to different core sizes — including the smaller modern ones. It grips the roll securely without binding and without needing springs, bearings, or hardware.

The rest of the design stays true to the original goals:

Fully 3D printed

No hardware

No supports

Simple, functional, and easy to print

It still mounts directly on the back of the toilet tank, keeping the roll accessible without drilling holes or installing wall brackets.

Single and Double Roll Versions

I’ve included both single-roll and double-roll variants.
The double version is surprisingly handy — not just as a backup roll, but also if you like having different paper types available.

Both versions use the same compliant post idea, so they handle modern rolls equally well.

Print Settings

Functional designs (such as this one) generally require more strength than non-functional designs and more strength than the typical default slicer settings provide, so please review your slicer settings carefully.

This product was designed for a 0.4mm nozzle and a 0.2mm layer height. For best results, I suggest the following:

Assembly Notes

No assembly required.

Why This Update Matters

This is a good example of why I like iterative, real-world design. Nothing about toilet paper holders is glamorous — but when something that used to work suddenly doesn’t, the fix needs to be simple, reliable, and durable.

Gen 2 exists because the world changed slightly, and the design needed to adapt.

Try It Out

If you’ve noticed rolls slipping off older holders or not fitting the way they used to, this version should solve that problem cleanly. As always, feedback is welcome — especially if you run into edge cases or unusual roll sizes.

The post Toilet Paper Holder 2 first appeared on logicalplanet.

What I ended up with is this fully 3D-printed, modular wall-mounted spool storage system. It’s snap-together, it’s expandable in all directions, and the spool trays actually collapse up into the wall assembly when I need my wall space back. It’s been a game changer in my workspace.

What This Is

This system is designed to hold standard 1 kg filament spools and let you build as much storage as you need without a bunch of screws, brackets, or bulky racks. The trays are printed parts that rotate up into their housings, creating a compact footprint while still being easy to access. The rail system makes it easy to keep multiple rows aligned and expandable.

It’s perfect for:

Print farms

Compact workshops

Maker spaces

Anyone who hates tangled filament and messy shelves

How It Works

Build the Walls
Snap the wall components together — they key into each other so you know everything is aligned properly.

Assemble the Trays
Each tray part has a keyed rotation so it sits square in the wall assembly and can pivot up or down smoothly.

Mount to Rails
Slide the assembled trays onto the rail system. You can add more rails and spacers to widen or stack more rows.

Collapse for Space
Want the wall back? Just rotate the trays upward flush against the wall rails.

This system isn’t locked into any particular number of spools — you add as many as you like by linking rails and adding spacers.

Printing Notes

As with most of my functional designs, strong walls and good infill give the best results. I’ve been printing these in PLA with the following general settings:

The trays and rails print reliably without fiddly supports, which makes batch printing them for a larger system quick and predictable.

Assembly

The hook is rotatable and extends out for use and in for collapsing into the main body. The two side arm sections also fold into the main body for storage or travel.

This design uses compliant latches to hold the compartments closed. I might try to make a combination lock version in the future. And, a few people have requested a thicker body (bigger storage).

As anyone who follows me knows, I have a line of faceplate accessories called WallMatePlate that allows you to get extra functionality out of your electrical outlet and wall switch plates. But I stumbled across this idea on a shopping site and I thought it was quite clever in its simplicity. So I designed my own. A simple shelf that attaches to North American-style wall plates to create more storage!!

Click here to download STL (Affiliate Link)

It is a super simple 1-piece print. And, it attaches by simply placing it behind a wall plate. The existing wall plate screws hold the wall plate and the Mini eShelf in place with considerable strength. Definitely adequate enough for small electronics or similar.

A complication I discovered after designing my first one and getting a few followers to test it was, not all wall plates are the same size. So I have created a few size variants to hopefully allow it to work for most people.

On the top back centre of the shelf is a recess (pass through hole) so that electrical wires can be container when using the Mini eShelf for charger or similar activities.

Assembly and Installation Notes

No assembly is required. It is ready to go right off the print plate. And, installation is a breeze. Simply unscrew your existing wall plate and then place the Mini eShelf behind it. Screw the original wall plate back into place. That’s it!!
